DENISE SUPPORTS NORTH SOMERSET'S BACK THE TRACK' CAMPAIGN (21/06/10)

Rachael Fisher recently met with Olympic Gold Medallist Denise Lewis, and after talking with her about our achievements and ambitions, she was very impressed and has been sent the information and website details.

It is believed that the former Olympic heptathlete will be involved more as she has asked to be kept informed of our progress. This is a fantastic boost for the club from such an accomplished athlete and ambassador for the sport.Denise was very happy to support the wonderful work we are doing and we received the following support from her.

Long jump - 6.69 m
Shot put - 16.12 m
Javelin - 51.13 m
Heptathlon - 6831 points

Awards and recognition
In the 2000 New Years Honours List, Lewis was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE)

Not to forget her grass roots support for athletics and of course Strictly come dancing!
