Great performances at the Great West Open

Many of North Somersets rising stars were on show at the Great West Open last Saturday. Despite the season just starting many pbs were broken including a fine performance by Chloe Buck in the 600m shaving 2 seconds of her previous best to win bronze in a time of 1.53.1 and a pb in the long jump of 3.85m to take silver.
Jasmine and Harriet Emery both competed well and came away with 4 medals between them. Siblings Jake, Dani and Beth Fisher all competed with Jake achieving a pb in the 800m and discus he will be a force to be reckoned with over the multi event competitions this year.

Francesca Allen ran the 100m and also achieved a pb in the long jump 4.15m, to finish 3rd behind clubmates Rosie Parsons and Anicia Skeates. Rosie and Anicia also set pbs Rosie in the 800m with 2.32.0 and Anicia in the long jump 4.66m.

Following a winter season of cross country training, Katie Grinyer has proved she is still fast over the shorter 2 laps. Placing 2nd in the U15 girls 800m in a new personal best time of 2.30.2.

Ash Pierson ran superbly winning goldss†in both the 100m and 200m in times of 11.4 and 23.3. Ash looks set to have a promising season ahead. As does fellow Worle student and team mate Sophie Thomas, 2 silvers in the 100m and 150m this was followed by a third silver in the U13 girls High Jump a massive pb of over 13cms saw a fine jump of 1.31m to secure second place.

With the Avon County Championships at the start of May it looks like being another fantastic year.
