22/02/2010 : Strong NSAC Representation in Avon Success in Sports-hall.

Avon dominated the South West regional Sports-hall event held in Torquay on February 6th going through in all but two categories. Several of our athletes were part of the successful teams.

Some of the highlights were Sophie Thomas being the only U13 participant to win both her track and field event. Anicia Skeates clearing 1.50m in the high jump and then pairing up with Katie Grinyer to win the 8 lap paarluf. Katie won the 6 lap race by miles and also contested the vertical jump. Shannon Holloway made the final of the 4 lap, but I think was struggling with an ankle injury but bravely battled to 6th place. Kieran Manning won the speed bounce; Tom Davison won the standing triple jump and was runner up in the 2 lap race. James Lawrence was 3rd place all rounder. Rosie Parsons was top U15 all rounder winning the 4 lap and 2nd place in the speed bounce. Emma Smith won the speed bounce.

Unfortunately Tash Osgood bad luck continued and had to withdrawal due to injury. We have no doubt she will be back showing us the clear talent she possesses. It was the U13s who really shone on the day both teams winning by huge margins. Fingers crossed the U15 girls make it through on the wild card by being closest scoring runners up as they were only 4 points behind Dorset. If they do that would mean all 4 teams make the UK finals, if they don`t Rosie would be the sole representative from the South West in the U15 age group.

Well done to all our athletes who took part you are having a very positive impact on athletics in the region.
